We are a boutique professional services firm providing accounting, company administration, regulatory compliance and tax consulting services to local, and international companies making an entry into the West African market.
Role Overview
The Country Managing Associate will oversee the firm’s operations in the host country whilst providing specialist advice on a range of technical issues in the various departments of the firm, whilst initiating, building and maintaining productive relationships with clients and intermediaries.
Key Responsibilities
• Be adept in the provision of technically accurate information and guidance to clients looking to enter the West African market, without the need for review by others;
• Have a broad and deep knowledge of compliance, regulatory set up requirements as well as a broad general knowledge of the law of your jurisdiction. Be proficient with Anticipating and understanding market development that will impact your client.
• Attend meetings and establishing a continuous working business relationship with regulatory institutions relevant to the operations of our clients. Management of compliance and statutory obligations of clients in host country.
• Actively generate business for your team and jurisdiction from both new and existing clients by effective internal and external business development activities and strive to develop the LIMA brand in the marketplace
• Contribute to recruitment decisions and the selection process. Manage, develop and coach the team appropriately.
• Be privy to client patterns, needs and timelines (government and private sector); constant awareness of impact of changes to government initiatives, regulations and legislation.
Education, Skills and Work Experience
• Fully or Partly Qualified Accountant/ Tax Consultant with typically 4+ years relevant experience from a relevant advisory environment, ideally within a Big 4 firm (or equivalent) demonstrating good, consistent performance over the last two financial years
• Smart, organized, reliable and pays attention to detail.

For 10 years, MEST has trained aspiring entrepreneurs and invested in exceptional businesses with Pan-African ambitions. These companies have gone on to enter new markets, with MEST growing alongside them as we’ve learned about the opportunities and challenges they face as they scale.

This year, we are excited to host our first Pan-African startup pitch competition, the MEST Africa Challenge! We’re looking for the continent’s most exciting African startups who are looking to scale into new markets, to participate in the Challenge.
